Chicago List

This is The Official List of of things I want to see and do in my hometown. This is by no means a comprehensive list of things to do should you visit Chicago as the things I’ve already done (more-common museums and attractions) are not listed.

I’ve only been to Chicago as a tourist (my sister lives there!) but I’ve enjoyed the Museum of History and Industry (I think that’s what it was called) and the nearby Robie House by Frank Lloyd Wright (the tours are very informative and the small fee goes toward restoration of the house). Everything else I’ve done has been pretty standard tourist stuff ;)

Ha, well, I’ve been to the Museum of Science and Industry and the History Museum (I used to want to get married there!) but I haven’t been to Robie House. I should look into that one – I love FLW!

Definitely recommend Bike the Drive and Architecture boat tour. Northerly Island is a cool place to see a concert, and there’s a decent skyline view from there. I haven’t done any of those others on the list.

Have you been to the Alfred Caldwell Lilly Pool by the Lincoln Park Zoo? There’s not much do there but walk around a bit, or sit. But it’s one of my favorite places in the city for its beauty and serenity. A little urban oasis. How about the Andersonville Dessert Crawl or Wine Walk? Both a good way to spend a weekend day with friends and/or your partner and try some new things (and indulge a bit, especially for the dessert crawl).

The Chicago Architecture Boat Tour was fantastic. My girlfriend’s mother came to town and we took her on that. I wasn’t really looking forward to it too much but once I got on the boat, got myself a local brew, and had a seat, I had a great time. Let us know what you think when you do it.
