Lampshade SOS
So, this is what you see in my dining area:
Actually, we recently made it festive for the holidays:
Why did we do this (Not the pumpkin – the whole bare-bulb-on-a-cord thing)? Well, there was this blah drum shade there. It worked for the people who lived here before us, as they had their dining table centered beneath it. We’ve arranged things slightly differently and the table is against the wall because, let’s be serious, we eat dinner sitting on the couch. Having the huge drum shade hanging there was like having a light fixture yell at you whenever you entered the space.
What was it yelling? Something like “You fools put your table in the wrong spot!” Not cool.
We removed the shade. Ahh, the space felt so open! But… now it’s just a light bulb hanging from a cord. Kinda prison chic.
But look! I’m inspired by Young House Love‘s Pinterest Challenge. What the Pinterest Challenge? Well, if you are anything like me, you have a ton of pins (items you’ve declared worthy of “saving” on your internet pinboards) but are low on the actual doing. It’s time to put that inspiration to work.
I’m going to create something magical to fix this eyesore. OK, well, first, we need to shorten the cord. But then!

Sure, I could buy something to fix this… but that is cheating! Instead, I will create.
Honestly, the state of lamps chez moi is a little sad overall. My desk lamp would like some help, too. Get in line, chump.

I have a bare bulb as well that could use some creativity!
Ha, I’ve already started on the transformation!
