Announcement

Commence squealing.

It begins. I’m a bride.

I spent this past weekend calling family to share the news and gleefully reading Amazon.com reviews of wedding planning books. I’ll readily admit that I already have an account at theknot.com (as I’m proudly one of those girls) but having an actual engagement ring on my finger is still a touch surreal.

    I highly recommend getting The Everything Wedding Checklist by Janet Anastasio and Michelle Bevilacqua. It’s small, and has lots of lists to fill in and place to write and make notes. My future MiL gave it to me when she came into the city to celebrate with us.

    Enjoy being engaged (I know I am!) and I’ll be excited to see how your wedding planning comes along.

    Don’t forget about adding a weddingbee.com account. There’s lots of DIY and ring pics galore on there. Knot can be intimidating especially on the local boards!

    Congrats are in order! I can’t WAIT to hear about all of the wedding planning. I’m not one of ‘those’ girls like yourself, but my friend Sam R. got me into APraticalWedding.com, which I highly recommend. I love reading it, and I’m not even close to being engaged. Again — wonderful news!

    Congrats!!!! That’s so awesome!

    I will add my recommendation to the others above: Wedding Planning For Dummies was really helpful for me. (I happened to work at For Dummies one summer and the acquisitions editor nicely gave me a free copy!) And, of course, I’ll put in a plug for my own wedding planning post :)
